The NCURA Annual Conference is the main event for Research Administrators handling US Federal Funding. Now in its 58th year, this meeting brought together over 2,000 research administrators from across the globe. LEES attended to learn about key current issues for UK organisations in receipt of US Federal Funds, and to gain clarity on some of the complex issues emerging as a result of the new Uniform Guidance applicable to US Federal Awards.

Like many of our clients, LEES were disappointed by the result of the EU referendum and the likely impact it will have on the research and development funding landscape in the UK. The key message emerging at this time is that UK institutions should continue to apply for EU funding and to take advantage of the opportunities available. This conference addressed the issue of how universities evidence impact from their research. LEES attended with a promotional stand to network with delegates and to understand the key post-award issues emerging in this aspect of Research management.

The Association of Research Managers and Administrators‘ annual conference is a key event for anyone working within the field of Research Management. The annual conference is built around members sharing best practice and discussing current issues on topics across the field of Research Management, from pre-award to post-award. LEES attended with a promotional stand to network with delegates andco-chaired a session on audit and compliance as part of ARMA’s Special Interest Group in this field

Jerry and Ellenattended the Interreg 2 Seas Co-operation Fair in June 2016 to receive updates on the programme from the Joint Technical Secretariat on the new INTERREG programme and to network with potential project partners as this exciting new Cross-border co-operation initiative takes shape.

LEES presented at Vision:2020’s Financial and Contract Management workshop on Horizon 2020 grant administration. Jerry, Ellen and Jonathan presented to research organisations from across Europe, allowing participants to discuss key emerging financial issues in the programme.
